The Board and Members of BodyPositive KENT Ltd. firmly believe that HIV & AIDS Service provision will be a lot different in the 21st Century. Treatment for HIV and AIDS changes on an almost daily basis, people are now going back to work, and of course we are all living longer.

One of the principal objective's of BodyPositive KENT is prevention of the spread of HIV in this county.

How can this be achieved? By Information and Awareness.

Currently if a member of the general public, be they Infected/Affected or do not know their HIV status, must go to a Sexual Health Clinic/Hospital to get Information on HIV/AIDS. Therefore the whole subject is somewhat still hidden away, and the information they may receive from these sources could be what the Service Provider believes or follows.

We aim to open a High Street Information Centre, this hopefully will be situated in Rochester or Chatham. The Centre will be managed by its own member of staff and volunteers. It will have a Cyber Cafe with three computers, and access to HIV/AIDS information will not be charged for. It will also have up to date information literature on all aspects of HIV and AIDS.

Also situated in the Centre will be the main BodyPositive Offices, and a 'Safe Place' for those people who are infected by HIV/AIDS. This safe place will be the drop in and will be a room, as we feel that the days of the drop in Centre are over.

We also hope to have space for affiliated groups to use.

So far, funding is going fairly well, but of course it could be better. So yet again, please get in touch if you can help with this project.

Also, for some time now we have been making enquiries to get an office in the East Kent area. Plans for this are still on the go, and by the end of the year we hope to have a small satellite office based in either Canterbury or Folkestone.

Watch this space for further developments!!!
